Workshop QGIS

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) help you structure, analyze, and visualize information with a spatial dimension. This workshop will introduce you to the fundamental principles of GIS and the types of data used within these systems.  You will work hands-on with QGIS, a widely used open-source GIS tool that allows you to create maps and analyze geodata.

The workshop will be led by Hans Blomme from the Ghent Centre for Digital Humanities, who has extensive experience in applying GIS for historical and social research.

The event will be held on Thursday, November 14th, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Room 0.8 Campus Boekentoren (Ghent University, Sint-Hubertusstraat 8, 9000 Ghent). Please bring your own laptop with QGIS pre-installed and a computer mouse. Wifi will be available via eduroam.
